Self Assessment online surgery on AccountingWEB

As you know, we organised a Self Assessment online surgery on AccountingWEB in January 2010, with respected tax author Rebecca Benneyworth responding to your tax-related queries. The response to this was extremely positive, so we'll be running the surgery again towards the end of January 2011. We've also pulled together a Q&A Summary white paper from the online forum, which we hope you’ll find useful. Download white paper

Here's a particularly rewarding piece of feedback from one of our customers.

"I would like to express our gratitude for your Taxation support team throughout January, but in particular the last crucial weekend of 30 and 31 of January, as I was in conversation with one team member just before 22.00 hours on 31 Sunday. Without their support during last weekend, a percentage of clients of a good number of practices as well as ours would have already received by now the HMRC penalties, surcharges & interest notices or soon they would do so.

It was a wise & fruitful business decision by Sage for the last weekend tax support, during this economic climate or at any time, which I have no doubt of the positive impact on your organisation for months & years to come since I am for one publicising this fact vigorously to our clients & friends.

Keep up the good hard work as we are all proud of you."

SA107 Data Entry

Your Feedback and Requests:

“My client is the Settlor for a Discretionary Trust; they also receive monies from this trust which makes it a Settlor-interested trust. Previously, to enter details in this section on the Tax Return and the SA107 pages, I always had to copy the return and manually enter details to fill in Box 2 of the Trust Pages. Has this been resolved in the new version of the software?” (Dannii)

Sage Response:

Thanks for your email, Dannii. Yes, this has been resolved in the updated Sage Taxation 2010 (v13). You can now enter details of settler-interested trusts through the data entry screens. Select other income, Income from Trusts and Settlements, Beneficiaries and then select from the drop down "Discretionary (settlor-interested)".

All areas of the SA107 can now be filled in from the data entry screens instead of manually copying and editing the return.

Demos for New Sage Taxation Customers and Pricing Information

Your Feedback and Requests:

“I currently use PTP software for self assessment tax returns, which I have found very good. I would be interested in looking at your offer if you could let me have a demonstration version to review and an idea of cost.” (Gavin)

Sage Response:

Thanks for emailing us, Gavin. Many people have felt the same way about other software and service providers; we understand that moving provider may seem daunting. However, those users have found that the increased level of functionality and award winning support at Sage has helped win them over!

We can go one better than give you a demo version of the software; please get in touch and we'd be happy to spend a little time running through a personal demo, either face-to-face or via a web-link at your convenience.

Cost is dependant on the number of concurrent users and clients you need to cater for - we'd be happy to quote with that information to hand.

Field Support

Your Feedback and Requests:

“Please supply further details concerning increasing the number of Personal Tax clients. Could we also please arrange a visit by field support?” (Joe)

Sage Response:

Joe, thanks for your email. As always with requests like this, we’ve passed your query on to our Taxation team who will be in touch to arrange a field visit, and will also be able to discuss with you the details and price structure for increasing the number of Personal Tax clients.”

The 'Taxation Today' Mailing

Your Feedback and Requests:

We received some positive feedback from you for the recent ‘Taxation Today’ mailing:

“I thought it was fun and enjoyed it.” (Roderick)

“We liked it!!! Thought it was a bit of light relief for a change!!!” (Denise)

"If you've got any more of these brochures with my firm's name on – without the fictitious disclaimer – please send them through!" (Mark)

“I think the mailing is a great idea. We certainly could use something similar – say in a PDF format that we could have printed – to promote Sage Line 50 and Payroll.” (Tony)

Sage Response:

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to email. We're glad you enjoyed the Taxation Today mailing.

Mark, we have arranged for 20 copies – minus the disclaimer – to be sent to your practice.

Tony, with the upcoming launch of Sage 50 Payroll 2010 we’ll keep your comments in mind. Our website growgreenshoots.com contains downloadable product information for our core software solutions; but we can also make available a downloadable PDF of any customer communications we send to you.
